Welcome as a Specialist Physician to the Mobile Emergency Unit at Psychiatry Northwest

We are looking for you who have a genuine interest in emergency psychiatry. You are flexible in your daily work and thrive in consulting, supervising, and working closely with other professions.

The Mobile Emergency Unit (MAK) is an on-call clinic serving the northwestern municipalities in Region Stockholm. The unit is available every day of the week between 08:00 and 22:00. The role also includes assessing, treating, and following up with patients cared for at New Karolinska Solna Hospital and Danderyd Hospital.

We have a comprehensive educational mandate and continuously welcome resident doctors (ST), newly graduated doctors (AT), and basic training doctors (BT). At the unit, nurses, doctors, and care assistants work with extensive experience in emergency psychiatry.

Responsibilities

Together with your specialist colleagues and the medical responsible physician for the unit, you will work with consultative psychiatric assessments, treatment, and follow-up of patients cared for at New Karolinska Solna and Danderyd Hospital. The duties also include participating in ward rounds at Karolinska University Hospital and Danderyd Hospital as part of liaison psychiatry, regarding inpatients at NKS and DS.

You will also supervise ST, AT, and BT doctors at MAK, receive patients during clinic visits, assess incoming referrals to the unit, and be responsible for the consultation phone line. You are part of the team along with other staff at MAK and are available as needed to provide support, supervision, and answer questions. The position also includes participation in the clinic's on-call activities.

Qualifications

You are a specialist physician in psychiatry with a genuine interest in emergency psychiatry. You thrive in team settings and with evidence-based psychiatric diagnostics and treatment. Experience in research and development work is an advantage.

We are looking for someone with good collaboration skills, sensitivity, engagement, and sound clinical judgment. You find satisfaction in patient meetings and in collaborating with other staff categories to provide the best possible care for each patient. You contribute to a good work climate and have a positive attitude towards teamwork and operational development.

Conditions

The employment is permanent, full-time (100%, 40 hours per week). Start date is by agreement.

In patient-facing work within the Stockholm County Council healthcare area:

  • A register check is applied before the decision on employment according to SLSO's overarching guidelines for register checks upon employment.
  • Employees who will have patient contact must undergo a pre-employment health examination, according to current directives, conducted through occupational health services before employment.
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language corresponding to level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is required, in addition to a Swedish professional license. The same requirement applies to non-licensed staff with patient contact.
